Nova Orthotics provides a quality Orthotic service for children and their families in the Hunter New England region.

Children are not like adults in their lifestyle choices and mannerisms, and hence their orthoses are different too. We work closely with families, physicians and therapists to ensure the best possible outcome for each child.

  • Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFO) are custom-made devices that encompass the foot, ankle and lower leg. The design and purpose of the AFO is different according to each person’s unique needs.

  • Foot orthotics are custom made shoe inserts that are used to reduce pain or prevent foot deformity by redistributing pressure, correcting alignment or restricting movement of the foot and ankle.

  • A Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) device is a medical device used to stimulate nerves and muscles through small electrical pulses. It is commonly used to help individuals with neurological conditions or muscle weakness regain movement or improve function, such as assisting with walking or improving hand movement. The device sends electrical signals to specific muscles, helping them contract and move in a way that mimics natural movement. FES devices are often used in rehabilitation settings to aid recovery and improve mobility.

Nova Orthotics is currently working with two FES devices:

    Evomove

    Bioness L300 Go

“Eadie is doing great walking in her new AFOs. She is much more mobile and is very excited with some of the new tricks she is now able to do. Jessie has great communication throughout the process.”
